Foxpro 2.6 database problem

By jbrown ·
We have several files being used by an app. These are referenced by multiple users. One file seems to lose its index at times, forcing us to log out all operators to re-index the file. After doing this, it works fine. We are migrating in the future to Foxpro 7.0, but in the meantime was looking for help.

Foxpro 2.6 database problem

Foxpro is simply not a reliable infrastructure for a multi-user application. Every non-trivial multi-user installation has stories similar to yours.

Do yourself a favor and upgrade to SQL Server or another real client-server database. You can still use Foxpro as a front end if you wish.

My two cents, FWIW.

Visual Foxpro is more stable. I have been working with VFP 6 with Foxpro 2.6 Free Table and it works fine. VFP 7.0 will have better control. For SQL, it depends on your record size and VFP can support up to 2GB per Table.
