freq. out of range

I’ve got a yard sale puter! what can be causing a computer to come up with [error}? freq. out of range? winMe comes up, than desktop icons appear for a min or so —than the blue screen pops up with some error about vmm , than it say push enter to proceed to windows! after i do that the message freq. out of range pop up again! lindafq
