FROM: line - change what shows

By PC&Web ·
I know this must be a simple answer but I cannot find the answer. This is in Microsoft Small Business Server 2003, Exchange. I'm using POP3 connector and sending through my ISP's SMTP server.
How do I change what shows in the FROM: field when an e-mail is sent by a particular user? This is for external e-mail.

Do you mean how do you show a different domain address than your ISP's POP 3?

You buy a domain name, create a MX record and then host a virtual SMTP domain for it.

As long as you are using your IPS's POP3 server, you will have their address, since that server is in their domain.

That's not the slant I said it with. Example: Client is ABC Company, employee is Cindy Smith. Currently when Cindy send an email it says ABC Company. Problem is the client wants it to come from their Research branch. So they want it to come from 'ABC Research' instead of 'ABC Company'.

Pop email client will have a E-mail address entry under the account configuration.

As long as the ABC Research is a valid email domain.

This did not answer the problem. I changed the e-mail info in the user on the SBS 2003 but that would not change the From line. I finally deleted the user and recreated it with the correct return information. I think it should have been easier to change.
