My USB ports were working. Suddenly a yellow question mark appeared under SM Bus Controller. I couldn't find an update and I accidentally uninstalled it. I have restored the computer to early stages but SM Bus controller still doesn't appear where it should be.
I use Vista Premium and my chipset is Sis 648 (they don't have the relevant update for the driver)
I tried my original drivers CD but no luck.
I would appreciate your help to resolve this problem because it's driving me nuts.

And locate the front USB cable plug (usually blue in colour) and disconnect them, if you have any other usb ports on your motherboard then place this front usb cable to this socket. Reboot your computer to see if comes up with "found new hardware", hopefully this will fix the problem. If possible look at your motherboard manual for the usb plugs and sockets.
Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.
Go to their Web Site and download the USB Drivers for your M'Board and Vista.
Depending on how old your M'Board is there may not be suitable Vista Drivers contained on the M'Board CD as many Vista Drivers are still in the Beta Testing stage now so if the M'Board is 8 months old the availability of Vista drivers was far less than what it is now. That is 8 months from Date of Manufacture not the date that you bought it from a supplier.
This is the ECS Wed Site download page so all you need do is enter the Model Number of the M'Board, Socket Type and you can then download the required driver.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem.
