FTP downloads are slow

By Japes ·
We are running an FTP server (on an NT4 sp6 platform) and although internal downloads are fine, external users are reporting that downloads are very slow, with speeds reported as low as 25kps, even on a high speed link.

Any ideas?

It's your bandwidht problem - check up what's your Download/Upload (Downstream/Upstream) speed:

usualy it's 1.5Mbps Down - 384kbps up for xDSL

for cable it can vary from 1.5-3 mbps Down - 384 or more (if you pay for more) Up

when the outside users are connected to your FTP they are using your Upload/Upstream bandwidht speed.

Thanks for your response, Mike

We have a 2mb Broadband connection, and so far as I can ascertain, our upload speed is about 169 which seems a bit low.

I have sent an email to our ISP to see if they can shed some light.
