I am running an FTP server (ncFTP on RedHat v7) behind a Linux firewall. I am also running DNS cache-only on the firewall as well as SSH.
The system works well with one small exception. When transferring a group of files, there is a long pause between files. I recall once reading that this was due to waiting for DNS to time out but what I don't remember are the exact details or how to fix it.
I would really appreciate information on the fix (or further information on the cause for thisbehavior).
thanks!

I'm currently running the client in passive mode. I have this distant recollection that it has something to do with not having a public DNS address so it is timing out while trying to do a DNS lookup for logging purposes.
Generally, I've found that if the passive mode issue is the problem, it won't make the connection at all. In this case, it eventually gets around to doing the transfer but with multiple files, it takes forever because it does this timeout thing between each file.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
