FTP Wildcard delete

We recently switched from a Novell to a Windows 2000 server using “Microsoft FTP Service (Ver 5.0).

The FTP command DEL *.xxx worked on Novell but does not work in Windows. When I enter DIR *.xxx it only shows one file.

How can I get the wildcard to work again? Or is this another Microsoft feature?
