GAL to Public Contact Folder

By Jim_MacLachlan ·
We're migrating to Exchange & one of the tasks is to create a public folder, based on the GAL, that has a subset of our users in it.

How can I create one? I've tried to hook a search to a public folder, but the folder has garbage in it & I'm not sure where I could save the search so everyone would get it automatically. It's local to the PC I created it on now.

We have two basic types of users, people & properties. The properties all have an email address for general information. The Powers That Be like the way they can view & print out of public folders, especially for the properties. There's a lot of extra information we put in for them; the manager's name, speed dial number, type, emergency after hours contacts & stuff like that.

Unless I can pull this information out of the GAL, I'll have to have 2 separate lists of these properties. I guess I'd just put their name in the GAL & put all the other information into their contact in the public folder. I hate information in two places - one is ALWAYS wrong & of course, it's my fault.

Any help greatly appreciated. - Jim

This is a tech. problem, in search of a solution.

It properly belongs in "Technical Q&A," not in "Discussions."

Please re-post there.

Thank you.
