Garbled video during wakeup

By dc19634 ·
I have a client that has an Xpert 2000 on Windows 98.

When the system wakes up the video is all garbled. The only thing I know about the motherboard is that it's an Intel 810 chipset.

What are the possible conflicts/solutions?

Try lowering the refresh rate and see if this will help, also check to see if you have the latest video driver.

If the board has on board graphics on the motherboard check in the CMOS Control Panel and disable the onboard video graphics, this may be causing the conflict.

First things First . Try pressing F8 before win98 starts booting . At the startup menu sellect Safe mode . Does your Windows 98 Start without causing the above problem ? Bingo you've done it .... now you can right click at any unused space on your desktop to start display properties . Just hit the APPLY button and restart your computer . Magic ....... It works ......
If the above doesn't work then you probably have a hardware problem , but don't lose hope most display problems can be solved using the above trick .

I just noticed .. the problem is not booting to win 98 . Your problem occurs when the system wakes up from suspend mode . I think it is due to unsupported refresh rate or incorrect resolution . In any case try the above as safe mode actually starts win 98 in the most compatible settings .

In any case try the above as safe mode actually starts win 98 in the most compatible settings .Also in the display properties go to the settings tab then press advanced button then the monitor tab . make sure the "reset at suspend/resume " is checked . You probably have a screensaver which changes the resolution and the system goes into suspend mode while the screensaver is on .
