Generic Monitor Driver

By Notretired ·
I bought a generic 17" monitor that doesn't have a name. The model # is DH-1764 and the company looks like RIC on 3225 Laurleview Ct. in Freemont, CA. I cant get the monitor to size to 600x800 or display more than 16 colors. My motherboard has a built in graphics adapter it looks like.

Any thoughts,

Peter

When you coldboot your computer, the very first thing is usually the graphics adapter in your system. Try to read what it says with a finger hovering over the "pause" button. Set that adapter in control panel.

If your on-board adapter has 4MB or more video memory, setting the adapter to "standard VGA" should enable you to have 16 million colors anyway.

Your display driver needs to be updated. Obtain an updated driver from the PC manufacturer's site. Remove the driver from the "Device Manager" and restart Windows. Windows will automatically detect the display adapter. Click "Other Location" for thedisplay driver and supply the source path. Restart the PC.

Enjoy!

When I don't have the name of manufacturer. The first place I start with is to locate the FCC id number. You can key this number at http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid. This will bring up the name of the manufacturer. From this point you can go to their site or site up at http://www.driverguide.com which has a driver out their for just about everything PC. Once you find your driver then follow Proposed Answer 3 and you be ready to go.
