Generic/Text Only Printer

I have installed the Point of Sale System Averasell and am trying to get the printer I purchased with the system (StarTSP100) to work with the POS. It has printed from Windows but will not print from the POS. The tech support said to uninstall both the Star printer and the Generic Receipt printer driver I had installed and start over with only the Generic/text only printer. Now the Star printer will not print at all. I have been on and off the phone with the tech support a bunch of times, and since we didn't pay for support (we are a really small company), they want me to pay going forward. Any ideas why I can't get this printer to print as a generic/text only printer in windows? Any help would save my life!!!

What Operating system is the software installed on? Do you have any kind of write protection enabled that disallows driver installation? What happens if you uninstall all instances of the printer, reboot, and then turn the printer on? Does it detect, and try to PNP? Can you then direct the install to the StarTSP100 drivers, or a generic driver from the windows print driver list?
