Generic tool for multivendor disk storage devices

By richard.gates ·
Solarwinds has Storage Manager, Multi-Vendor Storage Performance & Capacity Management software. Is there anything that can test and report on the various components of multi-vendor storage devices, including the formatting of individual hard drives? (in the arrays) I'd be interested in any info along those lines. Of course, I could be asking too much. Thanks for any information.

At a high level, No.

Since each vendor has some proprietary hardware, typically, the only sorts of utilities I've seen have been vendor-specific...e.g. a Hitachi utility to manage your HDS SAN, or a Dell utility for your Dell SAN, etc.

Of course in terms of something like SNMP monitoring, there are tons of solutions, but these do not got that deep into things like drives and so forth.
