Getting into Telecommunications

Getting into telecommunications should be too dificult, depending on what you actually want to do. What was your degree in? and where are you located? I am an IT&T recruiter in Australia with major accounts in Telecommunications.

Getting into a new career

by Fnugry In reply to Getting into a new career

Getting into telcom career should not be any different than getting into any other career. First, apply for an entry-level position in whatever area you're interested in (support, development, etc.) At this stage, your success depends mostly on yoursocial skills: avility to convince recruiter that you're worth hiring. Once you get inside, you will have an opportunity to prove your skills and abilities, gather some experience and train yourself for the next step in your career. At the same timeyou will be able to learn more about career opportunities in the company or in industry in general and identify you next career goal. Once you feel ready to move on, inform your supreriors. If no suitable position can be found within the company, seek it outside: with work experience that shouldn't be a problem. That cycle - get in, learn, move on - repeats until you reach top position :)

Anyway, the first thing you should do is stop "thinking about it" and start bulk-mailing your CVs :)Good luck.
