Getting Spammed in Lotus R5

Is there a way to block spam on Lotus Domino R5.
We didn't have this problem in R4.6

Thanks
Paul

Not without a 3rd party tool. We use groupshield with a content rule stopping any messages with 11 consecutive spaces in the subject as most spam has a tracking code at the end of the subject. This stops approx. 90% of spam.

Natively yes you can. You will need to make configuration changes to the Server Configuration Document, if you are experiencing spamming than you may also be experiencing unauthorized relaying.

You will need to make configuration changes to yourServer Configuration Document, you will need to control what domains can have messages routed to and what domains are permitted to send messages to the internet. Review the Lotus Documentation, it is very well detailed on what needs to be set.

You can also restrict access via email address, Domain and/or IP address.

Use of 3rd party tools will help in automating some of the functions and allow you to subscribe to Open Relay Databases which will help in restricting known spamming sites (also includes those which have had their sites compromised by unauthorized relaying activity).
