getting started

can someone tell me the best way to get started in the IT consultant field? I've been in the IT field for 5 years and i would really like to give it a shot. Thanks in advance and have a great day

So you've decided on the IT consultant's field. Well if you've been in the IT field for the above number of years, you well indeed might go for that goal.

Ok, as for finding any job you should first layout your goals (best if done on paper).

1. You know you want to try IT consulting, now what about your prefered company or organization that you would like to work for?

2. Decide on how much your willing to work for.

3. Seek out the company of your choice, use the net or any other method of getting information on salaries and job availabilities.

4. Balance the pros and the cons of the job options you viewed.

Then finally just go for it! With five years of experience you certainly should be qualified, so all you really need to do, once you've done the above, is take the job. Good luck with your IT consulting
