Great TV ads

Locked

by charliespencer ·

The heck with Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld; what’s the best TV ad you can remember? One per customer, please, so make it a good one. Oh, and you have to remember the product, not just the ad.

My favorite? The best Super Bowl commercial ever. This guy uses almost as much of the product as I do.

but for the life of me I can’t think of who the auto manufacturer is. If I figure it out, I’ll be back to post. I’ll be back to read, anyway. 😉

It’s an auto ad…

by boxfiddler ·

In reply to Get it figured out yet?

a couple in a car driving down a side street in the rain. Some music is playing, and the windshield wipers are keeping time to the music. They drive past a kid with a basketball, and he’s dribbling in time with the music and the wipers. Next is someone with a broom sweeping the sidewalk, just in time with a brush on the snares in the music. I got a huge grin out of that ad.
But no, I can’t figure out which auto maker, or I’d try to post it. Great ad, just a great ad.

I don’t know exactly what ad you are referring to, but my favorite was the Budweiser ad where an old refrigerator smashed the crap out of the big mean robot, back when Robot Wars was the fad. I laughed my a$$ off when I saw that (sadly it grew back 🙁 ). A close second would be the Clydesdale horse that farts into the candle. I usually can’t wait to see what they have dreamed up each year.

Define “Great”?

by cupcake ·

In reply to Great TV ads

I don’t know how you define great… does it mean it
makes you laugh or cry or that it makes you buy the
product or what… but I have to tell you that my current
favorite ad is the one for Discovery Channel… the ‘boom
di adda’ ad…

I think its classy, catchy and well done visually. ‘Great’ in
my view…

And me too… I can’t go to the links from work 🙁

The married slacker was unusual

by delbertpgh ·

In reply to Freecredit report.com…

His position was that if he had known his wife had a bad loan outstanding, he wouldn’t have married her. Such a practical outlook on love & marriage is pretty uncommon… most people would say, once smitten, you’re on the hook, ’cause you can’t turn away from luv.

Shows he’s got his priorities in order.

What are the last words a single man says? “I do.”

What are the first words a married man says? “Yes, dear.”

Remember the AT&T ad with the mother crying, and the father asking if there son was allright, and the mother saying that he called to say I love you?

Somehow, Sprint got hold of the same actors, and set up the same bit, but the mother answers “HAVE YOU SEEN OUR PHONE BILL?”

Then the pitch for sprint. I laughed so hard I almost peed myself.

Cadbury Gorllia Ad

by oz_media ·

In reply to Great TV ads

Sorry to be so biased but I find UK ads hilarious (British Airways are very clever and Hands off Humphrey (milk ads) are an old favorite), Japanese have some REALLY clever ones too.

I don’t get into most of our ads tough, US or Canada, they are too tacky, not clever and definitely not very funny or engaging.
I find they are based on stupid jingles and ugly kids and show no real imagination, talent or creativity, much like most comedy movies these days.

So with that said: Here’s ONE of my favorite ads for Cadbury, Phil Colins eat your heart out.

(Though this one isn’t exactly the cerebral type of ad I was referring to, it certainly is one COOOOOOL gorilla!)

turn it up!

Trying to narrow down the field….

by captbilly1eye ·

In reply to Great TV ads

…there are tons of memorable ones.
I remember laughing at the Alka-Seltzer commercials…. “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing”

The Budweiser Ads were usually pretty good.

The ones on now that I like best are the “Messin’ with Sasquatch” series for Jack Link’s Beef Jerky.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpTXjxU3WLQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NAMu7AGj9E
They even have their own site: http://www.messinwithsasquatch.com/

BUT… my favorite one is the second one of these two for the Ford Sportka (sold in Europe):

I guarantee you’ll never see either of those in the US!

Hey Palmetto… Thanks for the fun diversion today. I needed it!

You didn’t see this one in the United States. It’s for Vigorsol, a chewing gum that chills you down so much you sort of harden up.
