Hi, I’ve never really had a chance to play with active directory. I’ve seen technicians play with it. They had the Gui up with the active directory users and computers. In it I saw things that said stuff like Hr., payroll, sales, marketing etc. Would these be considered what they call organizational units or are they groups?

In reply to group or organizational units

Active Directory has two types of groups:
Security groups: Use to assign permissions to shared resources.
Distribution groups: Use to create email distribution lists.

HR, sales and marketing do look more like units in the company, I’d say. But to be sure, you have to ask the technicians. I’m sure you’ll learn a lot that way.
