GuruOfDOS.....Mk II

By GuruOfDos ·
This isn't really a discussion subject, but I decided to post this news anyway.

Many of the regular Forum participants will be aware that a new arrival has been pending at 'Casa DOS', and have bombarded me and my wife with many good wishes along the way.

Mike 'GuruOfDOS' Percival is immensely proud and pleased to (finally) announce the arrival of Kathryn Lynn, born September 4th 2003 at Princess Ann Maternity Hospital Southampton, UK.

She was born at 5.47pm BST (12.47 EDT) after a 'textbook' normal delivery and weighed in at a 'meaty' 4.3kg (9lb 7oz). Theresa and Kathryn are both doing well, apart from both being incredibly tired , and I look forward to bringing them both home on Saturday!

Thanks to everyone on TR who has wished us well along the way and I will post a link in due course as soon as the pictures are on-line!

I look forward with anticipation to the next eighteen or so years but dread the day that she turns round at school and says "When I grow up I want to be a computer engineer like my Daddy..."

My fatherly reply will either be "Over my dead body!" or "Wouldn't you be better off getting a PROPER job?!!"

Congratulations my friend.

Thanks for the information.

My daughter will turn 17 later this month.

She has decided on her own to choose a different career path than her dad.

She is in many respects smarter than her father. The young men at her school are intimidated by her.

I have no doubts that she will be successful along whatever path she chooses.

My point, take care to aid your daughter as she grows. Teach her to think and ask questions. Then sit back and watch her shine.

Best wishes to your family,

Forgive me for being unaware of the impending event. May God grant you the wisdom and patience you'll need to raise your new daughter.

Here on. But I suspose you're lucky that she wasn't born clutching a PDA and demanding to know why it wouldn't work.

But enjoy at this time as it is the best that it will get long sleepless nights bad days through lack of sleep and then you begin to wonder what she's getting up to {wops sorry that comes about 15 years latter} right now it's only the sleepless nights and dirty nappies.

Believe me my youngest is now 27 years old and she's more problems now than she was when born if that's possible and even though there are times that I'd like to kill them quite willingly I wouldn't be without them either even though one makes me get up at 4.00 am to take him to work. I really don't know what's wrong with the young kids nowdays when I turned 18 I had a car and drivers licence my oldes is now 29 and lacks both as he always knows that either Mom or Dad will be there to take him and his friends where ever they want to go. Now I've only got to get the mobile home registered and go touring for the next 8 years or so and hopefully I'll be rid of them.

When she is 17 and she comes in at 3am on a school night after hanging out with her friends and talking about boys, or worse.

Remember, ?Children are a blessing and a gift from God?. Then kill her!

Congratulations and good luck.

Congratulations, Mike!

My daughter was born 11 years ago. Almost immediately I could tell she was a natural born leader, because she quickly began to order everyone around! (and this was before she was even a year old)

My favorite picture of her is one where she was about a year old, sitting on my lap with her fingers in her ears! (She was mad at me because I had fussed at her about something.)

I keep telling my kids, "Man, just think, soon you'll be 18 -- you can have your own job, your own apartment, your own car, etc etc!" I'm hoping they'll buy into it!

I'm very happy for your healthy family. I hope you get to take some time away from all of us for your little girl, et al.

BTW, thanks for the conversions.

It's gonna be a wierd thing when you stop and think about this:

You're holding someone you have only known for maybe five minutes in your arms, yet you love them more than anything in the world... :)

I wish to you that your experiences are as positive and joyful to you as my children have been to me.

Again, congrats.

Oh yeah, and it'll melt your heart if Kathryn ever sits down in your lap while you're building a new box and wants to know what you're doing. Of my three kids, one does that, and it's cool as ****!
