Not to mention a functional browser!

And I owe it all to Vanessa and J.Lupo who both recommended Firefox so highly.
However, I can see that I will be irritating Vanessa shortly- I am in that “learning curve” thing that is so popular…
But I have enjoyed having a Print button! And I can see animated avatars too! Life is GOOD! 🙂

turn red with the blushing. :8}
BTW, we moved last November and we are still trying to find everything. The picture of me and Tigger is still hidden somewhere. I asked my wife to look for it I can post it. Plus I want it hanging back up with the rest of the Disney pics from back then. 🙂

No worries

As I too have recntly moved and EVERYTHING is still in the living room- no time when you walk 30+ miles a week!
I have a cell of Tigger and Pooh circa probably late 60’s that I will have to digitise and send you. And assuming it still exists, a photo of me carrying the tigger head and trying to re-hydrate. File under “Really BAD pictures I have owned”.

I have tried to peer mail you twice and both times it was rejected. This time I was going to get you to send the pics to one of my personal email accounts. Will you peer mail me so I can reply and see if that will work? Thanks,

annoy away T2!

Actually, it’s not annoying. It feels good to help for a change. Usually I’m the one asking all the questions. I’m new at all of this and have so much to learn!!! I go home most days and can only utter a one syllable word…and it’s usually, “Whew!”. If you ever want, you can always just email me directly, too.

In reply to Uh, Vanessa,
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve tried to change settings in my personal profile. It won’t let me add an avatar, even one of the standard ones, and I cannot change the setting you mentioned above, either. I click on the update blah blah blah button and nothing! No error messages, nothing. I’ve tried rebooting & using another computer, but nothing I’ve tried works. My TR profile just WILL NOT UPDATE! aaagggghhh!!! Any suggestions?

It appears that we have much in common. And I will admit that while I am LOVING the Firefox GUI, I am doing some struggling with the tabbed thing. Can’t wait to use it, don’t know how. I am SO used to having 5 or 6 browser windows open that having them all in one place will be a treat.
Skins I discovered right away. There are now cats on my toolbar. This is very cool. And I don’t have to open Google window just to search something. Even better, I have the search engines I like loaded so I can use what I need to from the same location. Way cool!
I can’t tell you how pleased I am with this. I wish I had installed it long ago! Thank you so very much!

Hey, since I am having problems with my profile (not updating and allowing emails directly to me) you (anyone, really) can use my email address (vanessa@computers-unlimited.com) while I try to figure it out. The “update…” button does nothing at all. Any suggestions (from anyone reading this) are appreciated!

IE Address bar can be tweaked

…too, to use Google. By default the Address bar will use MSN Search.

That is an important tip, too. I hate the msn…well…anything. Google is clean and simple and keeps me totally in CONTROL – which is the elixr of life, don’t you think?

I do not like MSN Search. Before using JUST google, I used altavista, excite, yahoo…. so I was not confined to just one search engine. But now, I just use Google.

Google’s also great for…

email, too. It seems faster to get to, from wherever I am at the moment. And if you have a cell phone with txt mssging, it’s quick to sign up. When creating an account, just put in your 10-digit cell # where it asks, and you’re on your way. I have a few different accounts for various purposes and the main one stays resident in my sys tray and notifies me of incoming mail. It is also as trustworthy with malware as Google is on the whole, which seems pretty good to me. Just a thought.

Different accounts
by onbliss · about 15 years, 11 months ago
In reply to I like Google.
My primary account is the hotmail account. Though I dislike some aspects of it, I continue to use it. It is just the habit. I feel uncomfortable with using it in conjuction with IE, when MSN displays different advts. about Single Dates with some graphics. So I try not use it at work. I do have yahoo and gmail accounts for different uses.
I do not use the email account given to me by the cable guys. And, I also use the email that I got when I registered a personal domain.
It was easier to switch loyalty to Google, when it comes to search engines, but as far as email goes, I will hang on to hotmail for somemore time.
Different needs, Different Tools 🙂

You know, I don’t use the email capability that I get from the cable guys as well. Just never signed up and don’t have interest. I wonder if many people do. I have about 7 email accounts…only 4 of which I currently use so maybe I don’t need one more…but I would give up a couple if the cable thing was worth it. I just never bothered to find out. Go figure!

Firefox is good but it can be slow and every now and then………………
by sleepin’dawg · about 15 years, 11 months ago
In reply to Thanks Vanessa!
it can freeze up on you, when you least expect it. I can’t remember the last time I’ve used IE but I do use Avant which uses IE as a base, seems to accelerate it, has pop up blockers etc., more secure, skins and is much more intuitive than Firefox. I use Firefox, don’t get me wrong, but my browser of choice at the moment is Opera 9 (beta). This is fast, secure and is the smoothest beta edition of anything I’ve ever seen and it now has BitTorrent built into it. Shhhhhh! Can you say free movies and software???
