    Hard disk working very slowly

    by rtecht ·

After a week of purchasing my new HDD, it showed me an error stating that my hard drive was detected with imminent failure (attribute #1 error). At first I ignored this because the system seemed to be working OK. But in the past few days it has slowed down very much. It is a Seagate 1TB. It hangs and then works for 2 seconds, then hangs, and then works and this goes on. I just want to know if the data on it can be salvaged. Help would be appreciated

Edit: The HDD works very slowly now, and remains stuck on the Windows 10 boot screen until bluescreening with a BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO stop code. Chkdsk doesn’t work as apparently the hard disk is write protected and can’t be accessed.

Try this drive as a slave in a good PC and copy your files out.

Try booting some Live Linux (so many today) and see if you can copy your files out.

      DO NOT CHKDSK!
