I think back to the times that I have DARED to tease Tig about one thing or another, and it gives me a cold chill to read the headlines! Wow, have I been playing with fire!
‘Tigger’ accused of smacking young fan

I never worked at Disney World, only Disneyland.
I heard about this on the radio this morning. Back in the day, your handler was your buffer between you and the guest- the costume can be unwieldy at best and, like the 2004 incident, something unplanned can happen.
As I understand it, this incident may have been intentional, maybe not. Allegedly, the child had been tormenting the character. People forget that there’s a human in that suit.
However it doesn’t bother me if you prefer to think I am awesome in my wrath!

I think it was a wise move on her part. If you’re going to attack another human, make it a kid, they’re less likely to inflict much damage if they fight back..

I have a huge mama bear that lives just below the surface of a mild-mannered woman.
I’m just saying, hitting a kid would be easier because it wouldn’t be much if they fought back, in fact, the younger the better. Toddlers would be a breeze… you just have to make sure the parents aren’t looking. Jeez, do I have to think of EVERYTHING??

Don’t you find the smell of burning fur is a put off? :p
Besides after the fur has burnt its way into the plate you can never cook anything to eat on it again so you’re stuck with BBQ puppies which eventually gets hard to do as you start to run out of stray neighbourhood puppies after a short time. 😀

If you shave the puppies first, no burning hair smell.
Then throw them in ice water so they will not be as upset when thrown on the grill (its warmer).
Soon, grilled puppies. Ah, yes, Garlic, onion, Lemon, thyme. Also, may I add to sprinkle on peppercorns (lightly). -

I once saw a 7-foot tall Fifth Avenue bar “playing” with a terrified, screaming toddler at Hershey Park. I’d have beaten it to death, but the mom was laughing like it was the funniest thing she ever saw.
I’m sure the experience will make a therapist extremely wealthy some day.

In reply to Hey Neighbor!
The hardest thing that characters deal with is how they are viewed by the public.
Tigger is fun and bouncy to a 4 or 5 year old, terrifying to a 2 year old.
A 5th Avenue is a nice dormant thing to a toddler, terrifying when it comes to life.
Eating all that polyester… well, maybe it is a show tunes thing.

In reply to Has Tig gone NUTS?
Every News Channel last night. But as Tigger was having a Bad Fur Day with his/her/it’s fur the wrong colour I put it down to that being way too red for the real Tigger.
It didn’t look so bad the backhander that was handed out to the delinquent who in all likely hood derived the slap around but throwing him to the ground and stomping all over him while Tigger Bounced around was just too much. But we all know that Tiggers love to bounce and apparently not even the problem child’s parents realised what was happening. They thought it was part of the act. Even when the ambulance arrived and carried the unconscious child away to Intensive Care in a Serious Unstable Condition. 😀
Tigger what ever I’ve done to upset you I Didn’t Mean It, It Was A Slip Of The Keyboard Nothing Else I’m Sure That You Understand. Really! 🙂
But if you like here is some news that will interest you apparently during the recent Ashes Test Match between the Aussies and the Poms 2 of the Aussies players used Pink Handled Cricket Bats one was giving away several thousand Dollars per century and the other was giving away several dollars per run, he made over a century, to those who don’t follow cricket 100 + runs so there was another couple of K handed out there.
Glen McGrath & Andrew Symons where the Aussies who carried the Pink Handled Bats and where the ones donating the money. Currently there is some talk of the specially made Pink Handled Bats being Auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Awayness Charity to increase the amount of money generated over the Ashes Series. But at the same time both players are talking of continuing to use these bats and continue the donations. So what will happen in the short term is anyone’s guess.

From everything I am hearing
by tig2 · about 16 years, 1 month ago
In reply to Has Tig gone NUTS?
This may be another case of “wardrobe malfunction”.
The case in 2004 where it was alleged that the character had inappropriately touched a 13 or 14 year old girl was proven to be an error. The gloves to the costume are overstuffed and frankly, I can tell you from experience that you literally can feel nothing while wearing them. One of the first things you learn is to tightly control your movements. From what I have heard, the character simply was not controlling the costume.
The way I dealt with that situation was to let people touch me, not the other way around. Little kids are annoyingly short and difficult to see in the mask. If I waited, they would interact with me and let me know where the safe field was.
A note of caution here, JD- before the smart aleck comments begin- when I am wearing an 80 pound furry costume, you may get away with touching. But never forget, I have a handler of my own!
The thing that is so hurtful is that the character should be separate from the action. “Tigger” did not do anything. The actor did.
However, JD, it is my considered opinion that you should continue to be VERY afraid…
😀

80 lbs of furry costume (in 90+ Degree F heat) would be unwieldy to say the least. I say we have the kids’ parents try on the costume and then try to give their kiddo a big ole hug. Make em walk a mile in Tigger’s big furry shoes…

In reply to I can see how
The only flaw in that plan is that you have to be a certain height and stature to wear the darned thing. Most folk don’t qualify. Heck, I wouldn’t qualify any more- I don’t have the agility or stamina that I had many years ago.
But I agree- let the average Joe try doing that. They find out very quickly that you can’t see much, you can’t feel much, and you have no fine motor skills.

In reply to Jessie, you are reading my mind!
The kid only complained to it’s parents once they got out of the park and they where filming the entire incident and thought nothing of it at the time.
Lets sue Disney or sell your story to Jerry Springer and make money.
Better still if you manage to do both you’ll just be that much richer and no one suffers in the minds of the money grubbing slime balls who start the complaints.

Tiggers like to bounce and the higher that they get the harder they can hit the ground and anyone silly enough to be in the way and then bounce higher. 😀

I can always pull rank in here and get you a bed – would you like to be in the secure unit at the top of the site? Then it’s only a 10 minute walk for me to come and visit you on work days.
Mind you, with the state of the IT systems in here (don’t ask, you really REALLY don’t want to know the answer 🙁 ) if they realise you know about computers they’d probably build that in as the major part of your care plan…..
But at least you’d have access to some nice meds to stop you posting to the TR board at stupid o’clock in the morning! 😀

Just provided that JD doesn’t get upset I’ll be in that and No I don’t know anything about computers at all. Honest :8}
That was a nasty vicious lie started by someone who was using PC’s when that meant Politically Correct not Personal Computer. But if this helps I did go to bed around 5.00 PM and was up ready for a 8.30 start. God I really do have problems don’t I? :_|

As for the State of the IT Systems that’s easy I Don’t Do Medical Work wouldn’t be good practise to have someone die because I screwed up again. Surely that must count as some small attempt to try to remain part way sane shouldn’t it? :^0
Besides I learnt this a long time ago when I was at IBM when faced with a computer that doesn’t do as it’s told pout at least 10 gallons of polluted sea water through it while it’s powered up and then you know that it’s broken. You also get a great looking light show as well but you have to follow some basic electrical safety procedures. 😀
While I’m sure that the techs will appreciate that form of fixing I’m not so sure that the Bureaucrats do. ;\
