Help Desk Certification

By care ·
I am considering a career in Help Desk and have considered obtaining my certification from Help Desk Institute. I will have an associates Degree in Help Desk and Support Technology in December. Is it a waste of money to obtain my certification thissummer?

Re: Help Desk Certification

I would think that if you and another candidate appeared to be equally qualified, and you were certified and he wasn't, I would go with you.

However, if he was MCSE, and you were "Help Desk Certified", I might choose him, unless I really thought it through and realized that there's more to working a help desk than technical knowledge.

The problem is, most people are mesmerized when they see MCSE, and they figure that the MCSE is automatically qualified to work a help desk.

Knowing whatI do about Help Desk Institute, and having a help desk background, HDI certification would definitely be a point in your favor with me. But that's just me.
