Help - Email addresses not appearing

By asizemore ·
Hello, I am using outlook 2003. I have my contacts list which has email address (at least 1 for most people). When I want to go and send an email and I choose the To button, and pull up my contacts list, a lot of emails are missing from this list even though they have email addresses in the contacts list. Anybody have any clues here why they are not showing up here???

Maybe you're seeing your 'most-used' list ...

As opposed to your comprehensive list of ALL contacts.

WILL be able to access any email address you wish if you open a new email page and (with the cursor in the 'To:' box, type the initial letter of the email recipient you wish to send to - all addresses that relate to that initial letter will be featured in a drop-down box.

I don't use Outlook but I assume it operates the same as all other email clients.

no I understand what you are talking about and that function works fine. My problem is when I actually go to add contacts using the TO on the email I'm sending. Within the email, the email addresses are are not showing in the To, CC, BCC window even when I choose the correct contacts list. Yet when I got to the contacts window...I have email addresses listed in people that I'm looking for. Thanks for the thought though!!!

Found my own answer!!!

OK answered my own question. It appears that if in your contacts list you have the 2 fields email address and Display as. IF your Display as default is Lastname, Firstname (email address) it won't show up in your address book because there are two spaces between firstname and (email address). When I removed the extra space to be Lastname, Firstname (email address) it automatically showed up in the address book which is use to add address to your emails when select the little "To" box. Anyway just wanted to let people know in case someone else ever ran into this problem!
