HELP!!!!! OLE DB vs ODBC and SQL 7.0

    Locked

    by rsutton ·

I am looking for some info from Microsoft or any “Published” articles for the differences in performance between OLE DB vs. ODBC connecting to a SQL 7.0 db. Our App is written in VB. We have a db that grows by about 1 Gig a month and we are still using ODBC and RDO to connect to the db. There is a lot of data that goes between the client and the server. I have seen it where just under 1 Gig (Yes Gig)(Static Lists) of data has gone between a client and the server in a 24 hour period. So I need to prove to the “Higher(?)” up that we need to migrate to VB6 along with OLE DB and ADO now and not later. HELP!!! 🙁

Hey the Best place to search for this type of information would be MSDN online
      at http://msdn.microsoft.com/default.asp
and then search for ADO or ODBC
They have lots of technical Articles with enough infomation for you to convince your sups to make the much needed change
      Good luck

      hey two ways
      1. hold down the shift button while you right click on the selected icon
      2. go to windows explorer then to go to view, then click on floder options, then file types, Search through for the file type and you will see what it is openedwith by default. Click on the file type icon and hit remove and when you right click on this type of files icon the Open with will always come up. However, if you double click the file the same things happens the open with dialog appears.
      Suggestion: Stick with step 1
