HELP – PCU, Motherboard, Power Supply or Case is dead ?1?

by bartemedus . Updated 18 years, 8 months ago

Hi dear reader,
Weeks ago I built my first pc.
It worked just fine for 4 beautiful days. One day when I walked into my room and moved my mouse I discovered that my pc had turned off?! It would not start up again since then. The ONLY thing that does happens is that my fans (all system fans, videocard-fan and the cpu-fan) give a short reaction by making a few spins when I press the power button. Furthermore It doesn’t beep, nothing.

To minimize the possibilities I have tested the parts that should make the system run:
psu, mobo, cpu, cpu-fan, power-sw, reset-sw.

I have tested my pc with parts from a friend.
These are the results from what I’ve tested:
My cpu + other mobo, other psu =working
My mobo, case, psu + other cpu =nothing happens
My mobo, case, cpu + other psu =nothing happens

My only conclusion is that the cpu is working!
Unfortunately I could not test my power supply in his system.

I thought that it must be my mobo but…
I allready returned my mobo twice (received new ones), and now bought (the same) one from a different company so it is not very likely that I have received 3 bad mobo’s!

Can it be the power supply, although the fans give a reaction? Can it be that the case shortcuts? Is my power-switch or reset-cable broken? I am getting very desperate! 😉

I really need the pc for my study.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Greetings from Holland,
Bart
