Help upgrading from ’98 to W2K.

I want some experienced help with upgrading operating systems. This much I know from personal experience. When upgrading from ?95 to ?98 we have the option to wipe the computer clean and offer the ?98 Upgrade CD the ?95 CD when the new installationlooks for a previous installation to qualify for the upgrade version. I wonder if we have the same options when upgrading from ?98 or NT Workstation to W2K? My experience with upgrades has been so bad I would rather wipe the computer first and do a clean install. However, since I have a legal copy of ?98 it seems wasteful to purchase a full version of W2K when by rights I should only have to pay for an upgrade CD. For that mater when upgrading from NT4 Server to W2K Server I should be able to do the same. Has anyone tried this? What happened?
