help with ETHERNET driver problem

By the2ndguitarist ·
i have a Compaq EVO d300s small factor. (my other computer)

i installed WIN 2000 PRO on it, and ever since then it cannot search or download any workable drivers for my ethernet card. its an InNET /SCS SI-50083 , thats what it says on the led on the ethernet thats built in the motherboard.

i have searched HP sites, a lot of sites and NONE seem to work at all. not at all does anyone know why none work or is there an actual driver that will work on win xp pro or win2000 pro is it a conspiracy?

For a NIC that's built into the motherboard. . . . .

by maxwell edison In reply to help with ETHERNET driver ...'s best to install it using the CD (or disks) that were supplied with that particular motherboard. If you don't have the CD, go to the motherboard manufacturer's Web site and search for a download. If you can't determine which motherboard you have, try using something like Belarc Advisor to find out.

XP should have the drivers fro D300 series

by shardeth-15902278 In reply to help with ETHERNET driver ...

Those are old enough that XP should have the necessary driver, I believe. We always worked with the D300v, rather than the s, so I can't be certain of that. Regarding the win2000 pro driver, one thing that you may run into , HP may not have linked it properly from theri website, the may had an 'all OS's' package elsewhere, try selecting win95 or win98 as your OS in the driver downloads for the machine in question, and look under network drivers there, you may find the file is for all os's, and will in fact include win2k drivers.

Do you know that this belongs in the "Questions" forum?

by deepsand In reply to help with ETHERNET driver ...

The "Discussion" forum is for matters of general discussion, not specific problems in search of a solution.

Post problems such as this to the "Question" forum, rather than the "Discussion" forum. There are those who specifically seek out problems in need of a solution, and that's where they go to look for such.

Additionally, the "Question" forum provides for your rating the helpfulness of responses, so that others with the same or similar problem might be able to more easily find a solution.
