I have Microsoft SQL 7 desktop edition installed on my Windows 98 PC. Recently I purchased ZONE ALARM PRO ,and ever since then, I cannot get SQL to start up. I tried removing ZONE ALARM, and then lost ALL connectivity, including internet via modem. ZA tech people won’t help because their program is functioning properly. I am guessing that it put some sort of firewall or other blocking mechanism in the PC’s ability to connect via Client For Microsoft Network’s Protocol.
I just want SQL to work again, I also would like to get rid of that zone alarm and send it back (even uninstalling don’t help, I had to re-install zone alarm just to ask this question!
ALL points awarded to the answer that gets my SQL to connect, so please be thorough in your answer, no partial credit, because a partial fix won’t help.

— I already reinstalled the protocol, AND tried to re-install SQL (I did clean the registry of SQL references first)
— NOT a SQL issue, I studied for my recently awarded MCDBA using SQL 7 (not 120 day eval, I bought the full version)
— I need to know how to undo whatever it is that Zone Alarm Pro did to my system!!!
