Hiding Directories in W2k

By huntec ·
Hi all
How do you hide directories in W2K, I know in Novell, you can specifically set directories that are seen by specific users, but how do you do this in Win 2K?

Thanks for response
Cliff

Folders have a hidden attribute you can set. Right click on folder - properties - click hidden.

Users can however set their folder options to view hidden folders.

On a shared folder level view you can hide shares from people "browsing" my network places. Just place a $ after the shared name. So if my shared folder was Data I would change the shared name to Data$.

Good luck
cp

You can hide directories by right clicking directory > Properties & then check Hidden check box.

Make sure that show hidden & system file option is unchecked. Other wise users can see directories. In any folder Click Tools menu > Folder Options > View tab > there make sure Don't show hideen & sytstem files is selected.

Users can still view your files if they check the other option. So better try to implement NTFS folder permission.
