Hiding last login in WIn98

By Josep_M ·
I tried this advice from salisbury@mail.findlay.edu (http://www.techrepublic.com/forumdiscuss/thread_detail.jhtml?thread_id=15592&message_id=175183)

To remove a network login use the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft \Windows\CurrentVersion\Network\RealModeNet

Add the string "DontDisplayLastUserName" with a value of "1"

But It doesn't work!
What I'm making wrong?

I have Windows 98 login on a Windows 2000 Server Domain. I want that the last user name will be hided. What can I do? It looked for an option in "Tweaki... for Power Users v 3.1.4" but I can't find It.

Anyone can help me, please?
Thanks

It doesn't work!!!
I have in Microsoft Network Login screen:
Login Name
Password
Domain
And the login name of the last user is displayed. I log in a Windows 2000 Server domain.

Double-click on Tweak UI
On the Paranoia tab, click to select the clear Last User at Logon check box
Also this may be the Registry key that you meed to modify
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\System
Add string don't display last user name with a value 1 to hide

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Value Name: DontDisplayLastUserName
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0 = Display last logged on user name
1 = Don't display last logged on user

This shoulddeffinetly work, there are no spaces in the Value name, and just make the value a 1 or a 0. Have a look at yourself on Microsofts Website, article Q237890.

Make sure data type is Reg_Word. Have a look at it, it should read.

That's the correct entry for Windows NT, but for Win9x, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Network\Logon and add a DWORD subkey of "DontShowLastUser" with a value of "1".

Good luck,
Robb
