Hiding resource rates in Project 2002

By bobryan ·
Is there any way within Project 2002 to protect the billing rate fields so that they are not visible to everyone with Project 2002? I currently use blended average rates which hides salaries nicely, but I would like to use actual billing rates to more accurately cost my projects. I just don't want prying eyes using this to deduce what everyone else is making annually.

I have more of a process related than a technical fix.

Don't put actual labour costs in the project plan.

At many of the places we worked, we used what we called a "loaded" labour rate. It was the cost of labour, salaries, software, benefits etc., averaged out by job grade or range.

Because contractors didn't incur some of the "hidden" costs of benefits, etc., they actually averaged much closer together.

In other words, you do your budgeting in hours, and multiple that by the loaded labour rate to get a dollar cost. The labour actuals should be done in a different budget document like a spreadsheet.
