    HOT SYNC USB NOT WORKING

    Locked

    by david_grant ·

I have a IBM thinkpad T23. I have a Palm m505 plugged into the USB port of my port replicator. I sucessfully was able to hot synch while connected through a USB hub attached to my laptop. However I am no longer able to perform a Hot Synch while attached directly to the USB port on the port replicator or laptop. I’ve tried another known working cradle. It appears as though my computer isn’t recongnizing the USB port. I need help

Try removing all usb devices AND the usb ports from device manager and let windows refind all of them.

Do you have (or can you borrow) another USB device to verify that the USB port works?

That would be my first step.

I recall a posting about some PALM cradles damaging PC ports. While PALM never admitted to a problem, they have a replacement program for some cradles.

I have heard a lot about USB issues with the Palm m505.

You may want to take a look here:

Additionally, I believe Palm is offering free upgraded replacement USB cradles to customers. If you continue to have problems, you should contact them about this.

      Good luck!

Try uninstalling then reinstalling the palm desktop and doing a memory reset on the palm (just one that makes it reload, not the big memory clearing one). My clie used to do this all the time, it works.

We had the same problem on a T21 ThinkPad – it worked, then it quit working. We ended up having to reload the OS to get the laptop to recognize the USB port properly again. 🙁
