How can i check if my pc is x64 compatible

By neoklis ·
Hi guys,
I am looking for a hardware tool that checks your computer if its 64bit compatible.

As i checked for my hardware it is compatible but I need to be sure by running a tool to give me exact info on that.
I have Pentium D 3.0Ghz 830
ASUS motherboard P5LD2 Deluxe 945P 775 socket.
2x512Mb RAM DDR2 533
SATAII 160Gb HD
ATI RADEON X850XT PCI-Express

intel and asus say that are EM64T compatible.

So please, if anybody can help to find a diagnostic tool I?ll appreciate that.
Thank you.

Although this program has been "discontinued", you can still find it and download it from the net.

Do a search on Lavasys' "Everest Home Edition" v2.20

Once downloaded and installed, go to the Motherboard section, CPUID, and look under the "instruction Set: heading... and you can verify if your chip is 64bit or not.

Good Luck

EM64T is Intels way of saying 64 bit compatible.
http://blogs.msdn.com/junfeng/archive/2004/08/11/212534.aspx
covers alot about the different lingo used to say basicly the same thing.
So if you are wanting to install 64 bit windows xp/vista or 64 bit linux, then your processor is just fine and should be fully supoprted.
EM64T = Extended Memory 64 Bit technology.

Both the CPU & M'Board can work with 64 BIT Software so you do not really need any software to test this with as the hardware natively supports 64 Bit Software.

The Intel EM64T is Intel's 64 Bit CPU extension and the ASUS M'Board runs the Intel 945 Chip Set which again is 64 Bit Compatible.

Depending on which OS you want to load you may run into some driver problems as quite a lot of Hardware items as yet don't have decent 64 Bit Drivers and if you are looking at a 64 Bit Linux you need one Optimised for Intel Architecture and not the AMD 64 Bit that are so commonly available.

Thnx guys for the replies.
I also tried to run a windows advisor for 64 bit and it stated that the processor is not supported.
I will try the Everest Home Edition and I will let you know as soon as I go home.
