How come my computer refuses to launch my bootable USB?

    by bamboobob ·

So I put Prime OS (Androidx86 modified) on a bootable USB stick and got it working on my previous laptop, but my new Dell Inspiron 14 7000 refuses to launch it. Now it does give me the option to launch it, but when i do I get stuck with a frozen screen, just a static underscore in the left hand corner on a black screen. Now the usb is UEFI and secure boot is off, and USB boot is enabled. My computer did the exact same thing when I tried to install the OS onto the USB. So why is my new laptop acting so weird? Why can’t I use another OS?

Does your model have an HDMI port ?

It could just be that the USB is too slow. I am not sure if the Inspiron 14 7000 has an HDMI input, but if it does, try to use that (either by plugging a USB-C to HDMI adapter between your USB stick and the HDMI port), or by using an external hard drive with the HDMI, rather than the USB stick…
