I know that it's possible to setup a print queue in NT that will forward to the Unix printer, but I'm not sure how to set it up, but there is another way.

I have the exact same situation here in my office. What I do is run Samba on the HP-UX systems and share the printers directly from there. Samba is free software that allows the Unix system to share directories and printers as if it was a Windows system. It can even do authentication from your NT network.

You can get it from www.samba.org.

You can use SAMBA, but probaly you?ll "disturb" the printer on the unix network.

Try using the LPD/LPR service on NT server and none or minimal change will be required on HPUX.
First add "Microsoft TCPIP Printing service" (Control Panel/Network/Services) that comes with WINNT install CD, then add a LPR printer. Simple way to do this: open "Windows NT HELP" (Start/Help) and type "lpr" at index tab, select "To create a LPR cmpatible printer" step by step guide.

Hope this helps.

On the Samba option - HP now supply a version specifically for HP-UX called CIFS.
Check http://www.software.hp.com then select Network & System Administration.

If you want to direct print to the network printer, it's easy.
Just make a entrance in /etc/hosts
map the printer to a hostname
(e.g 192.168.1.11 to hkpsvr01)
then in the printer setting page
add a remote printer (e.g hkgpr01) which the hosts is hkgprt01, printer is lp.
That done, try to print to printer hkgpr01.

Try JetAdmin..

On our Network we config the HP printer on Unix first then we use JetAdmin to config for tht NT LAN
