To fix a stuck Windows 10 update, what to do
Specs for the PC as follows:

Asus H81M-PLUS motherboard
2×8 GB 1600 MHz RAM
i5 4690 CPU
MSI AMD RX 480 GPU
240 GB Kingston A400 SSD (boot drive)
1 TB WD Blue HDD

Can you explain what exactly you mean with “stuck”? And what updates exactly was it doing?

I want to share the usual fixes but warn you that many have found the cause to be the original install was by a company such as HP, Asus and others. There’s something amiss with the original install which doesn’t seem repairable without a clean install.
What that means is you MUST have backups of what you can’t lose.
The good news is the Windows 10 license key has never had to be located prior to the clean install as the activation is automatically done later after the internet is connected.

Maybe there’s another fix but for now the findings are:
1. Do nothing and see if it sorts itself out. Microsoft gets reports of update failures and has corrected quite a few over the years.
2. Go ahead with backups of what you can’t lose and do a clean reinstall followed by installing your machine’s required drivers and apps. There are now plenty of tutorials online about this procedure.
