i installed linux mandrake 8.2 the other day in my puter…it reconized the soundcard as being:ess technology es1988 allegro-1.it worked fine on windows,but i formatted the hard drive and have nada…i put in my headphones… no sound…ive checked the wireng for my speakers…nothing still,ive mounted the cd rom and the cd-rw nothing….i was hoping you could give this illiterat person who has never dealt with linux before ever start to finish instructions….thanks alot if you can help.
