Outlook “2 GB size issue”

by Amanda_Ammy In reply to how do i increase the the ...

First you must check whether your PST file is Unicode or ANSI format. To do so:
Properties>Advanced and open the data file.

In Outlook 2003, “Outlook Data File” then it’s Unicode format.
If “Outlook 97-2002 Data file” then it’s an older ANSI format.

The 2010 Unicode format supports large sized PST files. So it is rare to get a “2 GB size issue”.
So, it is always recommended to compact or split you PST file for better management and avoiding being oversized.

You can use the free utility “Oversized PST and OST crop tool” to deal with Oversized Outlook data files. For info about the tool is available at:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/296088

If the PST file has become corrupt due to being oversized then you need a repair the corrupt file.
