How do I make an old (like 2 years) laptop faster?

I don’t know what model it is but it’s an ASUS and It’s kinda slow for both gaming and just using it in general. Keep in mind I’m not a very techy guy so I might not understand all the laptop terms you guys mention. I deleted some old files I didn’t need already. Also I didn’t know which flair to use.
