How do I Network Lenux...

By dakotan ·
I presently have an Ethernet LAN, with only three workstations in my home office. I set up the LAN with the intent of networking Lenux, when It came up.
How do I network with Lenux? What card do I need to install in the Lenux workstation, and whewre do I get a Lenux driver for it?

How do I Network Lenux...

Networking Linux has many parts. What do you want to use it for? Shareing files & printers with windows machines?????

The part about what lan cards to use I would use Intel Pro 100+ or 3Com 3c905B PCI cards both are supported by the newer versions of Linux. If you want to share files etc. with wondows you need to use SAMBA this will allow you to share both ways...
Linux being a Unix type OS uses TCP/IP for networking so you will need to load TCP/IP on your other machines as well..
Hope this helps

Thank You, that was very fast, and I belive very accurate.

I wish to share files, and printer/scanner etc.

I had been told aboout SAMBA already, so that is not a surprize.

Thank You for the Cards I will need.
