How do I send from different SMTP addresses in Exchange

by mitreddep . Updated 16 years, 7 months ago

We run Exchange 2003 and each person has 2 smtp e-mail addresses john@companyA.com and john@companyB.com so that they can receive e-mails sent to either address. We also want to be able to send e-mail from either address.

When users send e-mail externally they would like to be able to choose the address that it comes from so that the recipient sees that it has come from either CompanyA or CompanyB. One suggestion is that each user has 2 entries in the GAL i.e. John (Company A) & John (Company B) and they have ?send as? permissions on both and then use the from field to choose the address to send from.

Whilst this method will work it seems very messy to me and requires doubling the size of the GAL, is there better way?

Many Thanks
