How do I set defaults for inserting text boxes and pictures?

When inserting text boxes into word documents I want to set a default format (e.g. border, font) and also set formatting defaults for inserting pictures (wrapping style, size etc).

The answer I received on Office Online Help was:
1. Right-click the text box that has the formats you want to use as the default.
2. On the shortcut menu, click Format Text Box, and then click the Colors and Lines tab.
3. Select the Apply settings to new text boxes check box.
4. Click OK.

but my “colours and lines tab” did not have that checkbox. i am using windows xp.

Help would be appreciated I am so sick of having to format each one individually! Thankyou!
