How Do you enable user profiles on diffe

by aidanod . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

Scenario

A very simple network.

1 X NT 4 Server
2 X Windows98 client computers

Client computer number1 is a dedicated MS OFFICE machine
Client computer number2 is a dedicated Graphics machine running photoshop
etc.

I want to enable User Profiles in a mandatory way.

Problem.

When Joe logs in to computer1 everything seems ok and works BUT……

When Joe logs in to computer2 he gets desktop shortcuts that point to Word,
Excel, Poweroint etc.(which don’t reside on this computer)

Then when he logs in to computer1 again he gets shortcuts to Photoshop
(which again doesn’t reside on this computer)

Thus causing me calls as to why the computer isn’t working!!

I can test for which computer is logging on by using %computername% in my
login script
but HOW do I get the correct shortcuts and desktop to come down with the
user profile?

If I use User manager I can only export One profile.

I have been struggling with this one for ages so if anyone can
help !PLEASE HELP!
