How do you remove Internet Explorer fro

For some unknown reason to me my content advisor has changed.
I can no longer browse the internet. I can not even view my desktop as a web page.
I keep getting a message: content setting is missing information. My password no longer works or I have forgotten it.
I have not looked at my settings for over a year. I tried to remove Internet Explorer from my computer with no success.
I also found out that I need Internet Explorer to use my Quick Books Pro. I now use Netscape to browse the internet.
How can I remedy this situation?
