How long should I wait to get a new phone?

I have an iPhone xr and I know it’s getting older but I didn’t know if I should get a new one now or wait longer to get a new one.

There is no “should’. It’s fully your own choice.

What arguments do you have to buy another one, and what arguments do you have to keep using this one? Once you know that, decide what arguments are more important.

Granted, I upgrade my devices every 2-3 years but there is no set time when you should or need to upgrade. IMHO, when the manufacturer stops supporting/updating the phone or there is a feature that you don’t have and really want or need it might be time to consider an upgrade. I know some folks who keep their phones for 6 or more years or until the device stop working for whatever reason and that’s OK. It’s all a matter of preference and what you can afford or accomodate.

I would wait until it stop working completely or is too slow then id get a new one.

me personally, I wait a few months after the new one comes out and upgrade mine

If your fine with the things you can do on the Iphone and don’t want to go through the upgrade process and have to transfer all your data then it’s perfectly fine to use the same phone until it breaks and then upgrade.
