According to studies, changing it often reduces security.

Change it when you feel like it!

However, while changing the password often is suggested, it does create issues when those passcodes are forgotten. Just saying…..

Usually you should update your password maybe once or twice a year. I know people that dont change your passwords unless there is a security breach.

      I change a password:
      1. If my employers or school system requests it because of company or school policy.
      2. If I forget it, which hardly ever happens since I keep them in a password manager.

There is no “should”. Except for employer or school it’s your password and you determine the rules.

Depends on where you work and what their password rules are.

Some places can live with 0000 as a safe password and never need to change it or leave the routers at their default settings others need to change their passwords daily and rely on a Password Manager to store them as well as generating them.

So I suppose the more secure environment you work in the more important it is to follow the rules that are set out by the place to protect the data on their devices. The other thig to remember with Password Managers change the Master Password that allows you into the software on a regular basis as well as whatever else needs some form of password protection.

Passwords should be changed every three to six months, especially for sensitive accounts. In contrast, if you use strong, unique passwords coupled with multi-factor authentication (MFA), frequent password changes may not be necessary. It is always advisable to update passwords immediately if you suspect a breach or unauthorized access. It is possible to maintain security without having to make frequent changes by using a password manager.
