How to backup&retrieve mails?

I am using Outlook express 6.0 on WIN'98. One week before i backedup mails on outlook express and copied into my floppy. If i want to open that the same file with outlook express it can't open, it says.

Let me know how to backup and retrieve mails on outlook express? Please tell me it will be a great help and appreciated

2 ways.

The easy way is to use OE Backup.

Alternately, you can copy the DBX files for each user profile on the PC.

The location of the DBX files is along the lines of:

C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\{a string}\Outlook Express

There will be a string for each user / profile on the PC.

I may have parts of the path in the wrong place. But, you get the idea.

There will be 1 DBX file for each OE folder plus 1 additional file.
You need to copy and save all DBX files to back up your OE mail.

Your address book is stored at:

C:\Windows\Address Book
