How to cenetralize exch2k address book

Exchange Server has a "centralized" address book already. However your email client or how that client is set up determines your ability to access it.

Your client must connec to the Exchange server using the Microsoft Exchange server mail service in order to access the centralized address book.

Outlook Express only allows you to set up Internet Mail accounts and thus cannot access the central address book.

Outlook 2000, by default, is set up in "Internet Only" mode and thus also can't access the address book while in this mode.

(NOTE: Depending on your operating sytem, someone with administrative privileges may need to perform the following steps.)
You have to change Outlook 2000 to "Corporate or Workgroup" mode (Outlook | Tools menu | Options | Mail Services tab | Reconfigure Mail Support. Choose "Corporate or Workgroup" and follow instructions. Once Outlook is restarted, you will need to create a new Email profile (either through the Control Panel | Mail applet or through Outlook | Tools Menu | Services. The service you need to add (and use) is the Microsoft Exchange Server service. You will need to know the name and/or the IP address of the Exchange server in order to complete configuration.

Once the new profile is set up and Outlook restarted, you should automatically have access to the "centralized" address book.

Hope this helps.
