How to clean up domains from browse list

by jdick . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

I have a network of approx 500 pcs in one domain. In the browse list I get several “new” doamins/workgroups and I don’t know how to get rid of them. My list of available domains include “domain” and “workgroup”. Some nice defaults someone must have used for a workgroup name during a new installation. I also have vendors that have 98 laptops and company name workgroups “ibmco” the workgroup names NEVER disapper; even after they have been gone for months. There are no machines in “domain” or “Workgroup” either.

I use MS DHCP and WINS servers. I deleted the WINS “00h” entries for the nonexistent domain/workgroup names and STILL they do not go away. The WINS servers are also my PDC and BDC.

This is really starting to annoy me.
How can I remove them from the “Microsoft Windows Network” PERMANENTLY !!!!!

Is there any way to prevent this from happening again???

Thanks
John
