Designing a website starts with paper and pencil or ballpoint to sketch the screens to be made. Also, for sites with more than 1 simple page, a word processor is useful to describe the workings of the page and the internal links (like: “the contact button links to the contact page” or “after pressing remove the current line is removed”
After that comes making it, and that very much depends on what the website should do and the tools you choose.

For basic sites, find a website builder program or use a CMS (Content Management System) like WordPress or Wix, that handles most of the technology.

Here is how to design and build your first site:
      1. In Notepad, make 1 line text file with the text “This is my first website.” (without quotes). Save it as index.txt.
      2. In Explorer rename it to index.htm and open it. It will open in your default browser.
      3. Done.

To make it a real website, that other people can see also, find a hosting company, pay for a domain and a site and copy the file to your site, following the instructions of the hosting company. Then the whole world can see your first site.

You will get helpful hints and tips here in this forum, but we can’t give you every step. You will need to experiment on your own or hire someone to do it for you. Sorry, it just isn’t something that can be explained through an internet forum.

      The Design Phase

      by gutint ·

In reply to How to design websites

The design phase of a website mainly consists of three parts:

      1. Understand Requirements: Gather and understand the project requirements, including target audience, goals, and features needed.
      2. Create Wireframes/Prototypes: Design a basic layout (wireframe or prototype) using tools like Figma or Adobe XD. Include key elements such as navigation, content sections, and call-to-action buttons.
      3. Choose Design Elements: Select colors, fonts, and imagery that align with the brand and target audience. Ensure accessibility and readability.

These three steps are not a fixed step-by-step guide but instead a complete interrelated process. A understanding of the combination of User Interface and User Experience is a crucial element of the design phase as well. Firstly start with a rough sketch/figma template and then move onto the frontend of the website. Which requires HTML/CSS.

In today’s day and age, it is quite easy to design and build sites. Because of WordPress you can easily get your site up and running in no time. There are readily made themes and template available online which you can buy just by spending a few dollars.

No need to learn coding and programming just pick and drop ready-made templates and edit them according to your needs. I have an experience of building and developing many sites on and I still do’nt know how to code!! Lol!
